         Goggle officially launched new version of Andriod 4.1 code named Jelly bean few days after the launch of windows 8 tablet from Microsoft. Seems like both the giants competing with each other and with the Apple ios to get the 80% market share occupied by Apple tablets. Google embedded many new features in jelly bean. Google Android has the advantage of being open source operating system when compared to the other two. Microsoft Windows 8 has the advantage of better UI with a tile based home screen and good application development options for developers when compared to other two.

Google released it latest version of mobile operating system update i.e. Andriod 4.1 code named Jelly bean. This will be available by min-july in the googles newly announced Nexus 7 tablet and some other mobiles. This Version of OS mainly concentrated on performance and UI responsiveness.

These are the major features of Jelly Bean:

Android Beam - NFC:
Jelly bean supports the near-field communications (NFC) technology where it can share photos, videos and other files, just by tapping two NFC-enabled phones.
 
UI Responsiveness - Project Butter:
This is one of the major features of Jelly bean, where this is optimized for best performance and quick UI response by reducing touch latency.  The overall UI in Jelly bean is now much smoother and responsive. There are Improvements in frame rates.
 
Voice typing with Offline Support - Google Now:
Can call this Google advanced version of siri. You need not need data connection for voice detection feature in Jelly bean; this supports offline voice typing. But for now it only supports US English language voice recognition.
 
Notifications - New Styles:
Provided new features for expanding and collapsing notifications with swipe. Even the display of notification is larger now. Support for content and photos in Notifications. Notification style is also changed, looks richer now. Notification styles can be customized. User can respond to the notification like calling, sending mails.
 
Maps - Offline Support:
Jelly bean supports offline maps which are downloaded. Now you can navigate in android mobiles without data connection using the downloaded maps of cities.
 
Keyboard - Text prediction:
Jelly Bean supports smarter keyboard, the prediction algorithm of this keyboard is able to predict your next text before you start typing complete word. And this feature works offline i.e. without any network connection.
Now supports bidirectional text with support to other languages, support for three new souths Indian languages.
 
 
HomeScreen - UI:
Supports auto arrangements of widgets and apps. Widgets and apps can be removed with swipe shortcuts. Option’s to move and resize current widgets to fit new widgets.
 
Photos – Albums:
Support for high resolution contact photos. Photo Gallery looks good now. Much smoother and faster navigation with in the gallery. Delete photos by swipe
